Phobias

A phobia is an overwhelming and debilitating fear of an object, place, situation, feeling or animal. Phobias are more pronounced than fears. If a phobia becomes very severe a person may organise their life around avoiding the thing that’s causing them anxiety. As well as restricting their day-to-day life, it can also cause a lot of distress.

Specific Phobias are experienced by people as intense and uncontrollable feelings of anxiety, fear and panic in response to a particular stimulus or trigger, while every other part of their life may be completely normal. Common specific phobias include fear of flying, fear of going to the dentist, fear of heights, fear of dogs and there are many more. People can suffer for many years, often drastically re-organising or restricting their lives in order to not be triggered by their phobia. BUT it doesn’t have to stay this way.

Specific phobias can be successfully treated with Solution Focused Hypnotherapy in just 4 sessions so that they are no longer holding you back.

Being free from a phobia can be life changing. With hypnotherapy we don’t just stop the phobic fear response, we also create a new, more helpful response pattern, so that you can enjoy life once again, completely free of the stress and anxiety you’ve experienced up to now, and able to do things once again that you might have been avoiding for years. If you’re ready to be free from the phobia that’s been holding you back, get in touch.

Non-specific phobias are fears that have multiple triggers and scenarios that can cause panic. This can include, for example, agorophobia, claustrophobia, or social anxiety. If you have a non-specific phobia, these can also be successfully helped with hypnotherapy but as they are fears that have multiple triggers the treatment approach is different and I will discuss with you at your Initial Consultation how many sessions that may require.
